So basically its got about as good carving ability as you can get for the amount of float you get in powder. The base has good glide too. Turning Experience: Once its over on edge turning this board is pretty fun and the sidecut seems to like all kinds of turning radius. With a strong lean I can lay a driving carve back up hill and have fun doing it. Now it is more in the middle. Pipe: The Yes Standard is a great Pipe board and I cant wait to get more time in this pipe when we get this board for the season. Its a shade less forgiving than the older model but still a great time. With a competitive price and up-to-date technology, this board is a strong top contender for every all-mountain/freestyle board out there. Jibbing: The Yes Standard is a better jibber than you would think. Approximate Weight: So it doesnt look as much like a twin as it rides on snow. So all in all the 16 Standard isnt as versatile as the 15 Standard but still can make a really strong technical aggressive all mountain freestyle rider happy. It has multiple personalities as well. It was also very easy to pop off natural terrain. The 2016 Yes Standard has a few changes to the ride. This is a stand out when it comes to powder riding compared to most all mountain boards out there. its a ride that allows you to get a camber feel that allows you to go big with less consequence and floats better in powder. Well its kind of centered. There are no surprises. It also made the Jones Mountain Twin and Ultra Mountain Twin feel like a fast turner and that's not a fast turning . Good board for those that like to ride with either foot forward but still want to set it back far for powder. Jibbing:This is probably the weakest part of the ride but its not that bad either. Ethics Statement:We dont get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews and this is our unfiltered opinion. Almost excellent grip and just a shade behind YES underbite technology. Edge Hold: Nice solid grip that doesnt wash easily when it gets hard. Speed: This board is very damp and stable at speed. 519.00. 162W: 10.5-12 It's a decision I didn't regret. On Snow Feel: Stable to even semi catchy. Rails and Jibbing You can hit rails and go through the jib park but there are many better boards out there than the Jones Mountain Twin. When you get the YES Standard on edge it isnt very satisfying turning experience. Not too stiff and not too soft. We didnt lap the roller coaster park but felt this could do a great job with just about any size kicker the average to good rider can tackle. * Donate to https://www.patreon.com/thegoodride or https://venmo.com/TheGoodRide (@TheGoodRide) or https://paypal.me/thegoodride or Zelle* Follow Us: https://www.instagram.com/thegoodride* Like \u0026 SubscribeThanks For Watching! If you need advice please read the full review on the site first and use the comparison tool before contacting us here: https://thegoodride.com/snowboard-binding-and-boot-advice/ Reviews of Gear We Often Test With: Burton Kendo Boot Review: https://bit.ly/3Q4Mqt5 Union Atlas Binding Review https://bit.ly/3Q7xaLQ Burton AK 3L Gore-Tex Pro Tusk Jacket Review https://bit.ly/3SwJAyM Volcom Guide Jacket Review https://bit.ly/3SvMjs8 Burton AK 3L Gore-Tex Pro Hover Pant Review https://bit.ly/3BM05AV Smith Maze Helmet Review https://bit.ly/3byiR40 Smith 4D Mag Goggle Review https://bit.ly/3JDYS0E Burton AK Clutch Mitt Review https://bit.ly/3BYjjn8 Footprint Gamechangers Orthotics Review https://bit.ly/3QqkGPj Filmed With:Insta 360 One X2/New Vids One X3 https://www.insta360.com/sal/x3?insrc=INR1AEM GoPro Hero 10/New vids the Hero 11 https://bit.ly/3jJ2qm7 This design hasnt changed since 2013 and its the same great on snow feel. After a long time searching for a new all mtn board i decidet for the mountain twin and allready after my first ride i was convinced that i have made a good decision. The mountain twin is $120 more than the other two, is it worth the extra price? After having ridden park boards, an old Rossi, and a few various brands, I took the plunge and bought the Twin. Also the tip and tail seem to chatter a little less than previous models. We thought this had a centered stance during the demos but we were wrong. You can have fun on little bonks and such but its no technical rail/jib board. When it comes to carving its really good for a board that looks like its almost a continuous rocker board. On Snow Feel: The personality of the board never changes from powder to ice or from peak to jib park. . Im probably in the minority by saying that Id like to see the camber extended a bit to lock in and spring out of the turn better. Jibs Probably one of the only areas where it doesnt do very well. Yes have put it down to a manufacturing issue so ive sent it back and went for a Jones Ultra Mountain Twin 157. It makes the YES Standard one of the better all mountain boards out there for powder. Even the tip/tail butter easier than they use to. You know meBiestythe guy who writes all this shit. Boots: Burton Fiend LTD The fact that it is an intermediate/advanced board, this price point is standard, maybe even on the affordable side. Carving was fun on the old jones but the added camber of the 2013 and 2014 Jones makes it much more fun to carve and its one of its better qualities. Days: 1 JavaScript is disabled. Cut through some thick trees without a problem. Still the ride of the board feels a little more aggressive than its flex. (We dont put in the exact weight because with wood cores there is no consistency in a boards weight), Here are some ideal US boot sizes for these Jones Mountain Twin sizes. The 2013 is also a slight improvement over the 2011 and 2012 models because of the added camber. The base when waxed still has a great glide that holds its speed for a long ride. Buttering: Such a great board for buttering. Weight The Jones Mountin Twin is not terribly heavy but definitely more on the light side of things. Set Up: Guys- Centered approx 23 wide 15 front -15 back Girls- Set Back 10 mm 15 front -6 back. Do you want magnetraction? Never Summer Hammer or Shaper Twin, dont buy some overseas junk. They added the middle bite which is a pair of indentations in the sidecut below the inserts. On Snow Feel: Very aggressive and all about bombing the hill regular or switch. Speed:There is a bit of improvement when it comes to speed and the nose/tail doesnt chatter as much as it use to from 2013 and even 2014. Powder: So if you need full-size disc bindings like from NOW, Jones, Burton Re:Flex, Some Union Bindings like the Atlas and Force and others to make this work on the slamback inserts for setting it back in powder. Ethics Statement:We dont get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews. The board has more camber and only a little bit of early rise rocker in the tip/tail. First time with a hybrid profile and any type of magne-traction. Switch: Really good switch and just a little shy of a true twin. You realize most if not all of us have not ridden the 19s yet, right? Both are a bit sluggish turning through the bumps but the MT handles the crowded messy resort snow a bit better than the UMT. Camber under foot and rocker in the tips. Most of us actually liked that. Flex: This has a medium flex but it still has a very playful buttery feel for how stiff it is. If you ride in harder snow often this is a good call. The Jones Mountain Twin has a medium flex between the bindings with a little softer flex in the nose. Uneven Terrain: Not bad here for such a stiff flex. Ride it like a mountain freestyle twin on groomers but then set it back in powder and get some pretty good directional float if you dont feel like riding switch. Much more fun to ollie and about the same on the roller coaster line in the park. yes standard vs jones mountain twin; dnd 5e average damage calculator. that make it a little different than the 2015. He's 105 lbs, but the Typo only goes down to 149cm. Its still not bad for a mostly camber mostly twin ride but its more for the expert rider use to camber than those use to easy floating hybrid shapes. Conditions: Really good snow, some lighter left over rockies powdwer, some left over sierra powder along with hard snow slowly changing to slush over the day. This season I am going to try the Yes Pick Your Line. Pipe: We have ridden a lot of pipe with the Jones Mountain Twin and like it. With the stance set all the way back it can be a pretty good very easy floating powder board. So overall, the YES Standard, doesnt have the camber/pop/turning experience that I prefer but it has near excellent grip, butters super easy, floats in powder really well and gives a really forgiving ride. In episodes 7-14, Jeremy breaks down the intended performance differences between several closely aligned Jones . It can even do pretty well in ice if you have to ride it. The Jones isnt a chunder buster but its pretty good passing through a tracked out snow line without getting messy or bucking you. After a huge amount of time pouring over different brands and designs I settled on the Jones. So all in all the Yes Standard continued on where the 2016 Optimistic left off and even though it has a moderately stiffer flex its a really fun quick turning all mountain ride. A little bit more camber in the profile would make this more fun. And the basic/typo would be more playful and looser than the mountain twin? Close to Reference and Set all the way back. Switch:Now as I mentioned before the Jones Mountain Twin has a lot of directional tech with this board that makes it less than perfect to ride switch when centered. MT is a bit of a beast. Maybe its the mellow magnetraction bump in the middle but it just doesnt snap edge to edge super quick. We do make money from the Where To Buy links, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders perspective. Price Range: Jones Mountain Twin vs. Its a fun board to turn, ride fast, hit the pipe and get air with. Its also not super unforgiving on small to mid jumps either. So all and all, the Jones Mountain Twin from years 2017-2020 is a fun ride that will fit a wide variety of riders. The Jones Mountain Twin delivers what it advertisesan easy-going, surfy, catch-free, light, and poppy board with everything needed to take on a whole mountain from top to bottom. 153: 9-10 Size: 157 If your boots match the width its a great board to turn. The average price was $546 (USD) The Standard ranked 1st out of 38! It's just okay at pow, and pretty good in the park. The 162 and 167 like that 12+ rider. There are more sizes though. It increases edge hold and improves turn initiation for a board of a wider width underfoot. Same goes for the Basic Uninc and the other seasonal releases in 155 and it is close to the 158s. Resort: Copper Mountain. Pipe: Its a great pipe board. Powder: The Jones Twin is not going to have the float that theYes Big Citydoes but it floats very well for a directional twin without a set back. Insoles: Sandsole Custom Insoles, Footprint Insole Technology Gameghangers Low Profile They widened up the sizing across the board to accommodate size 10+ riders and got rid of the under 10 sizings for the bigger boards. Approximate Weight: Felt normal bordering on light. Not for those that like to skid their turns. This is about as good as you can get for a directional twin. Turn Initiation: The Mid-Bite Tech grips but also provides a little faster turn initiation for how much surface area is on snow. Jumps: It pops really well on snow for an ollie and it also can launch off kickers of any size. I also tested it against the Jones Mountain Twin, Ultra Mountain Twin, 2017 Yes Standard, Oz Custom Woody and a few other All Mountain boards like the Yes Libre. Riders:James, Matt,, Peter, Jimbo and many others The Jones MT is better than the Capita and Burton. It doesnt have that snap back when its bent like many good hybrid rocker boards but its still a great butter board. There isnt much difference in terms of ride between the 2015 and 2016 Jones Mountain Twin in terms of ride so the 15 review stands pretty much the same. Still we like going with medium to med/fast response bindings with this board. The pop has improved for 2021 and we feel like we can get a little more air out of an Ollie with the 2021 over past models. This is a great board for hard to icy snow. Its now intermediate friendly where before it was mostly for advanced riders. So its pretty versatile and does a better job of applying the very bold name of all mountain to this board. . The YES Standard does this better than most all-mountain boards because of this setback and the reduced volume in the tail. You always compromise when choosing one board for everything but this is one of the best one board solutions we have come across. Its a big bump down in comparison to the augmented camber of the YES Ghost which has the same shape and specs except for the camber profile. Its also pretty strong if you want to center it up for switch powder riding so its a pretty versatile powder ride. The hybrid camber under the feet makes for a very lively easy to turn board. Days: 5+ Its still not fun but its morebearable. Powder: Would of loved to see -15mm or even -20mm set back instead of a -10mm set back but its not been tested in powder by us. Speed: Good mountain speed and we had no problem with a strong straight line. The shape of the Jones Mountain Twin is still a directional twin, still has a longer nose than tail and still has more set back on board than most directional twins with a centered stance. June 22, 2022 . I think that is what I like about Yes and their sister companies with their hybrid camber tech. The 2020 YES Ghost also has set back inserts (Slamback) for powder days so you arent compromising as much as you were in 2019. 500. 159W: 10.5-11.5 I'm ~77kg, ride Malavitas and 32 Binary Boas size 43. . Even if you are a beginner who is committed to the sport you could go with this. Its also a great board for lapping the kicker line and you can take off or land either way. The 2018 156 Yes Standard was just not that fun for me and my size 9 boots compared to the 2017 model. The more we rode this the more we liked it. For example, the 156 used to have a 23 reference stance and now 23.1 is a wide as you can get on the standard inserts. Boots: Adidas Tactical ADV, Adidas Acerra It does have a unique reverse flex pattern meaning stiffer tips and softer between the feet. You can straightline most runs at moderate to high speeds with confidence and the way it rides wont sketch you out. The 2022 model did not change vs. the 2021 in this review or since this model was updated in 2018. Its got a great stable feel to it and itsgot a camber feel underfoot that doesnt catch. A mini disc wont work. The only issue here is the Slam back inserts require a full size disc binding. Check Their sizes as well for their take and especially so for weight. The merc felt really hard to turn and was stiffer overall. The Jones Mountain twin is stable enough for jumps while still being flexible enough to butter and press. The 156 and 153 both had a bouncy nose/tail but a base with above average glide. The Jones Mountain Twins base is pretty fast and the board is pretty damp. However it still is a very easy board to get to know riding the other direction. Riders:James, Jimbo, Matt, Peter and a friend of ours named Ren, There's no particular reason for this, just would like to try another board. Out of the 38 men's all-mountain snowboards that I rated: The average score was 83.9/100. All of us who rode it found us passing everyone on long flat cat tracks. With a centered stance the Jones can act like a great all mountain freestyle board. That is really good directional float for an all-mountain board.
