The experience I had with AFIT was nothing but fantastic. While the online training was intense and loaded with information I feel that it definitely prepared me for Rubens arrival. After arriving I spent 1 hour in the pattern with Ricardo and was landing successfully. I always knew that I wanted to be a pilot and it became surreal after my first solo. Shawn really made the process seem easy. With modern aircraft (two Diamond DA-20s) at her disposal and an ideal variety of airport types/locations, airspace classes, and geography/topography within which the student can easily gain the necessary instruction and experience. Before coming to training in Lincoln, I was worried about the weather because it was forecasted to rain. At that time it seemed a little overwhelming but I quickly realized on my first, long, cross country trip, after getting my license, that he was indeed correct. If you are looking for a program like this, that allows you to take time out of your busy schedule, and really challenge yourself to get it all done, I recommend AFIT! In my first several months of flying I cannot tell you how many times his teaching points I have thought back on. After some time researching the internet, talking to several folks, Tony and AFIT began to float to the top. The easy accessibility of planes and hangars made usually dry textbook concepts like aircraft systems come to life and Andy made full use of all available resources when I said I wanted to understand something in more detail. I was tired of learning to fly one or two hours a week from instructors who simply wanted to build time and apply to the airlines. The FAA says you must be at least 16 years old to fly solo with a student pilot certificate, and 17 years old to get a pilots license. My time with AFIT and Ruben was one for the the memory bank and I feel that I have gained a friend in Ruben as a result. I really enjoyed my AFIT experience and apologize for not sending you this note earlier. Flying every day in the AFIT intensive flight program not only allowed me to retain and recall my previous flight lessons with ease, it also provided the opportunity to more easily build upon that skill-set which quickened the pace at which I was developing my piloting abilities. I believe I received top class training and the 14 Day program would have been very difficult without Tom my instructor and the incredibly smooth coordination from Tony himself. While many people may have doubts about accelerated training, I cannot see another way to do learn how to fly. Alexs background in airplane mechanics makes him a huge asset to the program too. The course offered exactly what I was looking for; organization, time efficiency, and a remote location with a one-on-one instructor experience at a small airport with a good airplane. I hope to be back in Texas to take care of further ratings and such. Although the intense training can be stressful at times, John was able to make it fun through his constant British humor. The 14 days were jam-packed with instruction and flying. Im glad I did because at the last moment I decided to earn my certificate in a complex, high-performance 7-seat turbo aircraft that I purchased. This includes a minimum of 20 hours of flight training and 10 hours of solo flight. The Van Nuys airport was a great base for training as the busy airspace gave me lots of opportunity to practice my comms and get comfortable in crowded airspace. Oleg did a phenomenal job as a teacher, going the extra mile and customizing the program to my needs. Her calm and persistent manner has left me with a level of confidence that I simply never had from my previous flight training experience. Its great to be able to look back and see that only after two weeks, I have my pilots license. Lastly, I cant understate the value of having a dedicated aeroplane provider and partner. Fady was a great instructor who was not there to build hours, and genuinely wanted to see me receive my ppl. My training with John was 2 weeks as promised. I owe it to him, to call myself a Private Pilot. Im now a pilot and I owe it to this program! I was both skeptical and hopeful; after a phone call withCEOTony, followed by some encouraging correspondence, I booked travel to a California hotel for 2 weeks, determined to finish what I started. It was an absolute pleasure to fly with him and Im privileged to call him a friend. My instruction from John was top-notch. I hadnt flown for 8 months and had booked 7 days to get me to completion. T. and the 14-day PPL course. GET IT DONE WITH THESE GUYS worth every penny. Accelerated flight training in an intensive program designed teach piloting skills in a shorter than normal timeframe. He is always intimately knowledgeable of what the airplane is doing and why it is doing it. Needless to say, I unhesitatingly recommend A.F.I.T. I suspect many people, when they first see the claim of an instrument rating in ten days, are a bit sceptical. Accelerated Commercial Pilot Training can be accomplished in as little as 5 days depending on the flight time the student has. Never mind the refresher would be good for proficiency, I thought. For a newbie to aviation like me, this was all an amazing introduction to the nuts and bolts of how planes work and a much more easier way to grasp than just reading textbook descriptions. Each hour on the ground was spent reviewing relevant material beyond the expectations in the ACS. Next up will be my instrument ratingperhaps after a few months of flying. AFIT is a professional school with a syllabus that they stick to look for that before you consider another school.
